SUMMARY:COP Tales and Cocktails
DESCRIPTION:Creative Carbon Scotland is pleased to invite you to the next i
n our series of Green Tease events\, organised in collaboration with ecoar
 tscotland.\n\nCOP26\, the world's largest climate conference\, is coming t
o Glasgow in December 2020. It will be the most important gathering on cli
mate change since the Paris Agreement and will have a substantial role in
determining international environmental policy for years to come.\n\nThis
could be a huge opportunity to leverage improvements in work to tackle cli
mate change here in Scotland and the UK and we want to make sure that we t
ake full advantage of this. The COP will only be in town for two weeks\, s
o we need to be planning now to make the most of this short time.\n\nWe fe
el that it is vitally important to establish good communication early on b
etween people working in different fields. In particular we want to help f
orge connections between environmental organisations and campaigns and art
ists or arts organisations\, believing that these areas have much to offer
each other.\n\nThe climate crisis is also a crisis of culture in the broa
dest sense\, a failure of how we operate as a society\, and we believe tha
t the cultural sector can and should be doing more to bring about the sust
ainable future we desperately need. The cultural sector has huge social in
fluence and can provide an invaluable resource for reaching and engaging n
ew people about climate change in different ways.\n\nThis event will bring
  together sustainability experts\, campaigners\, artists\, arts organisati
ons\, and policy makers to learn more about what the big issues will be at
COP26\, think about the history of the arts' engagement with previous COP
s\, share plans that are already in development\, make new plans\, and for
m connections across the divides between these disciplines.\n\nSo whether
you're already deep into planning or are looking to find out how you can g
et involved\, join us for an evening of drinks (perhaps a festive mulled w
ine)\, snacks and energising discussion. Tell others about what you are pl
anning and learn what other are working on. And then we can get to work!\n
\nSchedule\n\n6:30-7pm Drinks and mingling\n7-7:30pm Presentations from va
rious organisations about their plans for the COP\n7:30-8pm Discussion of
what we would like to get out of the COP and how we can achieve it\n8-8:30
pm Drinks and mingling\n\nWe have already got in touch with various indivi
duals about speaking during the 7-7:30pm window\, but there's always room
for more\, so if you have plans that you'd like to present to the other at
tendees then please get in touch.\n\nFurther Information\n\nGetting here:
