The first Public Meeting of the COP26 Coalition – on Climate Justice and Coronavirus – will be this Friday 8th, 13:00-15:00 (BST).  

Please register here and please share with anyone who might be interested. Please note, you’ll be sent a weblink for joining after registering. We’ll hear from activists from around the world to deepen our understanding of the connections between climate, the coronavirus and inequality, and explore how our response to these crisis can be anchored in justice and internationalism.
Speakers include:
– Jesús Vásquez Negrón, La Via Campesina. Jesús is the National Coordinator of Organización Boricuá of Ecological Agriculture of Puerto Rico, a 30 year old national platform composed by farmers, peasants, farm workers and food sovereignty activist that promote and practice agroecology as a tool to achieve food sovereignty and social justice. He is also a member of the Caribbean Political Commission of the Latinamerican Coordinator of Peasant Organizations and a member of the Climate Justice Collective of La Vía Campesina.
– Rhoda Boateng, Africa Regional Organization of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-Africa). Rhoda coordinates ITUC-Africa’s work on Climate Change and Just Transition with focus on contributing to Global and Regional policy processes through lobbying and advocacy. Her work also focuses on training and developing capacities on climate change issues as well as design and implementation of campaigns on climate issues.
– Lidy Nacpil – Coordinator of Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development, Philippines. Lidy is an activist working on economic, environmental, social and gender justice issues. She is the Coordinator of Jubilee South – Asia Pacific Movement on Debt and Development (JSAPMDD), Co-coordinator of the Global Campaign to Demand Climate Justice (DCJ), and member of the Coordinating Committee of the Global Alliance on Tax Justice (GATJ). She also serves as the Vice President of the Freedom From Debt Coalition (FDC) in the Philippines and Convenor of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ), and serves on the Board of Directors for 350.org.
