Creative Carbon Scotland is pleased to invite you to the next in our series of Green Tease events, organised in collaboration with ecoartscotland.
COP26, the world’s largest climate conference, is coming to Glasgow in December 2020. It will be the most important gathering on climate change since the Paris Agreement and will have a substantial role in determining international environmental policy for years to come.
This could be a huge opportunity to leverage improvements in work to tackle climate change here in Scotland and the UK and we want to make sure that we take full advantage of this. The COP will only be in town for two weeks, so we need to be planning now to make the most of this short time.
We feel that it is vitally important to establish good communication early on between people working in different fields. In particular we want to help forge connections between environmental organisations and campaigns and artists or arts organisations, believing that these areas have much to offer each other.
The climate crisis is also a crisis of culture in the broadest sense, a failure of how we operate as a society, and we believe that the cultural sector can and should be doing more to bring about the sustainable future we desperately need. The cultural sector has huge social influence and can provide an invaluable resource for reaching and engaging new people about climate change in different ways.
This event will bring together sustainability experts, campaigners, artists, arts organisations, and policy makers to learn more about what the big issues will be at COP26, think about the history of the arts’ engagement with previous COPs, share plans that are already in development, make new plans, and form connections across the divides between these disciplines.
So whether you’re already deep into planning or are looking to find out how you can get involved, join us for an evening of drinks (perhaps a festive mulled wine), snacks and energising discussion. Tell others about what you are planning and learn what other are working on. And then we can get to work!

7-7:30pm Presentations from various organisations about their plans for the COP

We have already got in touch with various individuals about speaking during the 7-7:30pm window, but there’s always room for more, so if you have plans that you’d like to present to the other attendees then please get in touch.
